Good morning my lovelies! And Welcome to the prime of your life! Or so they say. Here’s a few pointers to getting the best out of your twenties.
1. Take care of your skin.
The older we get we sometimes forget our skin is aging too. Get a good skincare regime set in place to ensure its getting the nourishing it needs.
2. Find a hobby.
Find your passions in life and pursue them. If you used to love to paint, pick up that brush! Used to enjoy running? Throw on those trainers! Or indulge in something new and exciting. Try new things, try everything. Find a pass time you love. Its a great way to alleviate daily stress and it keeps your creativity alive.
3. Pay down debt.
Ah yes, a boring one, but trust me, your future self will be grateful. Set yourself up paying debts off little by little, even within the first year you’ll notice a difference and feel proud to look at those numbers going down.
4. Travel to another country.
We all deserve a little rest and relaxation and what better way to do so than a holiday with your nearest and dearest. Pick somewhere new, somewhere you’ve never been but wanted to go and enjoy planning out your trip with your partner, friends or loved ones.
5. Let go of toxic friendships.
Surround yourself with people who deserve your friendship. This is one of the toughest things to do but in the long run will be much better for your mental health. Let go of the people in your life who are no good for you.
6. Get your own place.
Everyone should be able to enjoy their freedom and living alone or with flatmates makes you more financially responsible.
7. Let go of grudges.
Way easier to be said than done, but grudges can hold you back from living the best life you can and deserve. Let go of anger and resentment.
8. Take a day trip.
Pack a bag and just set off. Spend a day away from your town or city. Jump a train, a bus, go explore. The adrenaline is amazing. Its a great way of having some “you” time too.
9. Don’t be scared to say yes.
Say yes to opportunities! If you really want to do something, go for it! Don’t be scared, don’t be held back. Don’t regret missing your chance.
10. Love in the moment.
A lot of people are busy making life plans, but when it comes to love I always think you should be living that moment right there and then. Living each day like its your last. If I feel the urge to attack my partner with kisses, I will. Release those happy endorphin’s!
11. Keep an organizer.
This way its easy to keep track of work, social plans, bills, income and outgoings. Write down daily goals, set yourself targets and scribble down ideas.
12. Start a savings account.
If at all possible, try to put a little money aside each month which you don’t touch. You will thank yourself for this later.
13. Treat your parents to dinner.
This is something I love to do. As we get older we sometimes forget that we are still their child and they do worry about us and miss us even though we have lives of our own. I try to treat my mum to lunch or dinner at least once a month as a little thank you for everything she has done for me and it gives us some great catch up time where its not just sitting drinking coffee in the kitchen and her listening to my life woes!
14. Get back in touch with old friends.
Sometimes people lose touch, and you don’t quite know how it happened, but that’s life. Send a text, email or throw a phone call their way just to see how they are doing. This wont always work but sometimes it can bring that person back into your life like they had never left. If it doesn’t, at least you know you’ve tried.
15. Experience different cultures.
There are so many ways to do this, learn a new language, take a trip, take a cooking class. There a big wide world out there, why not have a taste of it all?
16. Find a job you love.
Life is way too short to be stuck in a job you hate. Find a job that you wake up excited about each morning, that you want to go to. You’re never to old to go back to college or university if you decide to change careers.
17. Let go of past relationships.
Let them go. Living in the past is not looking to your future. You cant move on if you cant move past your past.
18. Make memories.
A fun thing to do is keep a memory box. I keep things like gig tickets, plane and train tickets, photos and keepsakes from times I want to remember. I also have a scrapbook.
19. Create a budget.
Keep track of your income and outgoings to make sure you don’t over spent each month. Give yourself a budget to live on to pay your food, bills and other needs so you can see how much you have left over.
20. Put yourself first.
This is your life at the end of the day. Sometimes in life you have to put your needs before others, and that’s okay.
