Over the years, I’ve tried numerous different approaches to remind myself how to love myself in my own skin, one of which is to tell yourself what makes you, YOU. At first, i’ll admit, it wasn’t particularly effective, but the more I thought about it, and did it, I felt empowered in myself. I’ve come so far over the years, and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved. Because I’ve done it for myself and only me.
Stand in front of the mirror and take a good look. This is YOU, beautifully imperfect, perfect you.
Look at your eyes. Nobody in the entire world has eyes like yours. They are unique to you. study them, look at how they shine in the light, the eyes are the window to the soul, and your inner light shines through them.
Try smiling. Not only does it instantly light up your entire face, this is the smile that people see. The smile that the one you love fell in love with, and will do anything to see, even if for a second. The smile you share with friends when you laugh and create some of your best memories, and every time you smile you are reminded of.
This is how I started off, before adding something new to tell myself day by day, little bit by little bit, Start with the simpler easier things and work your way up to the things you are less happy with.
Wouldn’t it be so nice if your body was acceptable? IT IS. You may not see it but you could, right now if you choose. Standing in front of the mirror and choosing to LIKE what we see rather than pick apart everything which we have conditioned to think could be “better” It may not be an easy one. We have to be the one to protect and love our bodies. Love your hips, your tummy, your butt, your arms, your heart and your soul. Loving your body does more for us than hating it, when you love your body, it loves you right back.
